Overall, Felixstone experienced significant development, especially along the coastal area. While some natural and agricultural land was replaced with facilities for tourism and leisure, other areas remained unchanged.
In 1967, the area south of the high street consisted mainly of natural features and low-scale developments. There was a pier extending into the sea, a hotel, a café, and a marina for boats, next to a fish market. To the east of the town, farmland and a large area of natural dunes were present.
By 2001, several major changes had occurred. The marina and fish market were removed and replaced by apartments and a swimming pool. The hotel remained, but a car park was added next to it. The pier was no longer present. The farmland was replaced by private beach access, while wind turbines were installed near the dunes, which were preserved.
The golf course and high street in the north remained unchanged over the period, indicating that the main transformations occurred in the southern and eastern parts of Felixstone.
