The charts illustrate the demographic count and the distribution of the population in urban and rural areas between 2010 and 2040. In a glance, it is visible that the number of people in cities will grow over the years while that of the rural regions is expected to plummet. However, in both places the majority of the population are children.
When it comes to Urban areas, on average, approximately a half of the population are children, whereas both adult men and women take up 23 percent each. The smallest remaining portion belonged to elderly people. In 2010, the sum of people was 2500 million, and after a decade, it raised to 4300 million. In 2030, it is expected to double. However, the predicted growth in the next decade is not as significant as it was in the past, but the count reached 9.2 billion people.
If we look at results of rural regions, like in the previous pie chart, children account for a noticeable portion of the whole share(43%), while the least numbers were illustrated by the elderly(12%). Similar numbers were shown by men and women as in the urban regions. However, percentages of women increased slightly to 26%, whereas that of men declined to 19%. In terms of changes in the population, the initial count was 3100 million people. In 2020, this number mildly declined to 3050 million, and the same is expected in 2030. Nevertheless, 890 million is predicted to be the population of this region in 2040.
