The images above represent the maps of a triangular section of Shalton village in the years 1910 and 2010.
Shalton village has seen some significant changes over the past 100 years. There is now a bank, a supermarket and a cafe along with a significant increase in residential buildings.
The house in the northern most point of the village has been replaced by a bank. Similarly the butcher store on the right of this house is now a supermaket along with a parking lot.
The central triangle, bordered by the school road, London road and the high street has seen the most amount of changes, with the large house at the centre converted to 5 smaller houses with a lane between them. The trees surrounding the house have been cut down. The cafe right below the house used to be a grocery store. Right next to the cafe we have a small house which still stands, but on the other side we now have another house instead of the Bakery.Below the high street the number of houses has increased from 2 to 4. Similarly on the right side of London road we now have 4 houses.
The post office in the north-east and the school on the south-west have remained unchanged.
