The two maps provided illustrate the transformation of Liverton Docks since 1980. Overall, the region has undergone significant changes, becoming more modern, recreational, and visitor-friendly with the introduction of new public buildings. In addition, Liverton Docks have become safer and more accessible to the East after the introduction of bridges and a flood barrier.
Upon closer examination, in 1980, the region was mainly an industrial area, with warehouses, cranes, and ships. To be more specific, two large warehouses, along with a crane, occupied the northern part of the region. The central area had several ships floating in the water. Alongside the coast, there was another large crane for construction purposes. The southern side was relatively emptier with the presence of only a warehouse.
As of today, an education center, a sailing club, and a children’s playground have been built, resulting in the disappearance of warehouses to the north of the region. Out of four large cruises, only one remained in the large water. The erection of a new bridge led to the connection of the north and south of the area. To create safety in the region and protect it from flooding, a barrier was built to the right of the bridge. Down by the large water, a river walk has been introduced, alongside which a hotel, an apartment complex, and a parking area have been constructed.
