The given diagram illustrates the demographic trajectory in Scotland with three features, namely birth rate, population growth and death rate throughout the period from 1940 to 2020.
A closer look at the live graph highlights the fact that that the number of children born and the growth of population annual tended to decrease, while the number of people died yearly increased.
Looking at the data of birth ratio and the population growth ratio, it is obvious that they were in downward trend. At the beginning of the line chart, in 1940, the birth rate accounted for the maximum proportion, with 2.5%. After that, it dropped significantly in 1970 with 1,2%. From 1970, it slightly lessen and in 2020, it was just 0.5%. Besides, the population growth percentage had a large fluctuation before decreasing. From 1940, it with just mere 0,8% but it increased to 1.5% in 1955. Then it went down in the following years. In over 2000, it was 0% and did not rise up anymore.
Turning to the statistics, the death rate was in the contrasting trend. In 1940, it held a high position, just after bith rate with 1.5%. But it went down from 1940 to 2010, from 1.5% to approximately 0,5%. From 2010 to 2020, it increased sightly in 0,8%. After 2020, it continued to rise up and surpassed birth rate.
