Overall, the parents’ spenditure on sports of their children was upward, while football took more attention by far compared with swimming and athletics.
British parents spent 20 pounds on their children’s sport each month in 2008. This figure increased steadily in next two years, reaching 25. It experienced the same trend until 2014, when the figure was approximately 30.
Football captivated attention of over 7.5 million children in 2008. It remained unchanged until 2010, after which showed a slight increase, reaching approximately 9 million. It was stable until 2014. While athletics and swimming initially stood under 2.5 million, which was more than 3 times less as large as Football in 2008. Swimming experienced a steadily increase until 2014, ending the period with almost 2 times as large as its initial figure. Athletics, which initialed less than swimming, stayed unchanged for two, before increased relatively sharply and took over swimming in 2011. This increase continued untill 2012 after decreasing slightly, reaching half as large as Football.
