The first chart shows the amount of money parents spend on their children’s sport activities from 2008 to 2014, and the other chart compares what kind of activities children were most keen on in that time period.
It is clear that the parent’s expenses grew rapidly from 2008 to 2014. The most popular sport among the kids was football, while the least popular was athletics and swimming.
In 2008, parents spent 20 pounds monthly on their children’s sports. The average cost then rose every year. In 2010, the average cost reached 25 pounds; by 2012, the price went up at around 30 pounds. In 2014 the monthly cost increased and has reached more than 30 pounds.
In 2008, we can see that the participation in football was the highest, having about 8 million kids attending. In a sharp contrast, the amount of kids participating in swimming was around 2 millions, and the least preferable one around kids, athletics, had only around 1 million kids. By 2010, there weren’t any significant changes, football staying as the most popular sport among children. The year 2012 saw dramatic increases in the participation in athletics reaching 5 million children, while the participation in swimming and football hasn’t changed. By 2014, participation in football finished at approximately 9 million, in athletics at 5 million and in swimming at 3 million kids.
