The given pie charts illustrate the energy consumption in an average Australian household and how much greenhouse gas was emitted.
In general terms, it can be clearly seen that the largest proportion of energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions was accounted for heating and water heating respectively, while the smallest consisted of cooling equally. In addition, the percentage of energy usage almost doubled than household energy with the exception of heating and water heating.
Turning to the first pie chart in more detail, heating occupied 42% of house hold energy use. In the meantime, 30% was made up by water heating, which is twice than other appliances. Additionally, refrigeration constituted 7% of energy usage. 2% and 7% took up by cooling and refrigeration, respectively.
Looking at the second chart more closely, the percentage of water heating and cooling comprised 32% and 3%, each, which is more or less the same with energy use and that of heating and other appliances occupied 15% and 28%, respectively. Meanwhile, the figures for refrigeration and lighting made up 14% and 8% each, which doubled than energy usage.
