Overall, it is clear that in both charts cooling contributes to by far the least consumption of whole energy. In addition, the greatest proportion of energy in a British household is consumed by heating water.
In terms of how energy is consumed, the greatest proportion of energy consumption is heating at just 42%. Cooling had the least proportion of energy usage in British households at 2%. Lighting and refrigeration are the second least percentage of energy use, making up 4% and 7% subsequently. Water heating requires 30%, while other appliance and gadgets only need the half of that.
Turning to the British household’s greenhouse gas emission, cooling again require by far the least proportion at 3%. Then , lighting is responsible for 8%, and refrigeration and heating contribute almost identical proportion with 14% and 15% respectively.
