The first bar chart compares the proportion of schools-aged girls and boys who went secondary school in four areas of the world in 2000,while the second bar chart shows the percentage of males and females at the college-aged higher education in the same year.
Overall,the percenatge of both genders attending secondry school was the highest in Europe,in which the percentage of girls exceed the proportion of boys.Additionally,the proportion of males in Sub-Saharan Africa was the lowest.Moreover,men generally had higher participation at college,except in Europe where the percentage of women was higher.
Focusing on the figure for the secondary education first,in Europe nearly all students attended,with girls at 100% and boys at 98%.In Latin America the proportion of girls was 10% higher than the proportion of boys.As for the the boys,the figure in East Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa was about 10% higher than that of girls.
When it comes to higher education,the proportion of women in Europe was minimally more than the percentage of men,at 70% and 60% respectively, whereas the proportion of men in Sub-Sharan Africa,East Asia and in Latin America was higher by 5% than that of women,despite the lowest figure for males.
