The given bar charts illustrate both the population and birth and death rates of two countries namely, England and Wales combined between the years 1700 and 2000.
In the 1700s the population of both countries were close to 10 million. However, there is a gradual rise in the population every year till the end of 2000. By 1800, there was a slight increase which was close to 15 million. In the year 1900, the population soared to 40 million. Later, it significantly rose to around 50 million in the year 2000.
Coming to the second chart, it is interesting to note that the birth rates were always ahead of the death rates in every year. Both rates started between 5 to 10 million in 1700, however, there was a dramatic rise in the rates in 1800. Later the birth and death rates plummeted to 16 and 16 million respectively. The rates were almost stagnant in the later decade.
Though there was a gradual increase in the population towards the year 2000, the birth and death rates rose and fell non-periodically till the end.
