Overall, the total number of train passengers experienced an upward trend, while the percentage of trains running on time experienced a downward trend.
In 1995, the number of train passengers in Sydney was at 250 million passengers, and it rose steadily to 265 million passengers in 1999. The ratio jumped drastically at 300 million passengers in 2001. A significant decline happened in 2002, and remained unchanged until the end of the period.
Looking at the second graph, the total percentage of trains running on time in 1995 at around 92 per cent. There was a dramatic decrease in 1997 accounting for 85%. Since 1997 the ratio experienced a fluctuation until it reached 90% in 2003, and the number dropped sharply to under 75% in 2004.
