The line graphs compare the number of passengers travelling by train and the percentage of trains running on time in Sydney between 1995 and 2004. Overall, the number of passengers saw an increase over the period, while the percentage of trains arriving on time experienced a decline.
In 1995, the number of passengers stood at 250 million and increased gradually until 1999, reaching 260 million. This figure rose sharply and reached the peak of 300 million in 2001, before dropping to around 280 million in 2004.
At the beginning of the period, over 90% of trains arrived on schedule. However, in 1997, this figure witnessed a decline to roughly 85%, before recovering to its initial level. There was a slight drop to 85% in 2000, followed by a gradual increase to approximately 92%. Subsequently, it dropped dramatically, reaching the lowest level of 70%.
