The tables show changes in the total population of the five districts of New York City. It included Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island. Overall, the population in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island has risen spectacularly since 1800 which start at 18,701 population to 6,471,089 population in 2000. While Manhattan district peaked at 1,850,093 in 1900 and has been declined as much as 19% of total population in 2000.
In the year of 1800, total population of New York City was 79,216 and 76% of people lived in Manhattan while the rest lived in others district. In 1900s, the population in all five districts of New York City rose to a significant number. In Manhattan the number of people is 1,850,093 covering 54% of total population of New York City and other districts covers the rest with 1,587,109 number of people.
However, this trend changed in the year of 2000 with others district became more dominant than Manhattan. In 2000s, 81% of the total population of New York City has moved to either Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island that covers 81% of population while Manhattan only covers 19%.
