A two-step scrutiny process of an application is shown in the figure, once done by an employer’s assistant, and then by an employer.
The process starts with the submission of a resume. It then advances to the next step, where the employer’s secretary reads the resume, and the application gets accepted or rejected by the assistant. In case of acceptance, it goes to the next step of scrutiny, where the employer sees the resume, like his assistant did, in theprevious step. The two possible outcomes of the observation are: either the hiring manager takes the resume forward, or the employer doesn’t. If it gets accepted, the applicant is interviewed, which results in two possibilities: the candidate gets hired after the successful interview, or the applicant doesn’t get hired.
