Overall, trampling can have detrimental effects on the environment through two distinct processes, damaging both vegetation and soil, and finally resulting in erosion and decreases quality of the soil and plants.
First of all, the flora of the area is directly damaged due to being flattened under the feet of tourists. Subsequently, not only do plants become weaker, but they also lose their capacity to reproduce and grow effectively. Because of this, the quantity of the vegetation experience a significant reduction.
Meanwhile, trampling caused by tourists walking makes the soil more compacted and harder. In the degraded soil, the transmission of air and water is adversely affected, leading to an increase in the rate of the erosion of the soil, and also water runs off the land. As a result of this trend, reproduction and growth of the plants decline far more.
At the end of the two mentioned processes, the quality of the soil and vegetation of the countryside decreases remarkably.
