The bar graphs illustrate South Korea’s digital gaming trends in 2006, with one chart presenting demographic data and the other showing preferences for different game genres.
Overall, the first graph shows that males outnumbered females across all age groups, with those aged 20-29 and 13-19 accounting for the largest proportions of total gamers. In the second graph, role-playing games were the most popular genre, followed by action games.
In terms of age distribution, males in their twenties represented the highest proportion of gamers at approximately 35%, whereas females in the same age group accounted for only 10%. This was followed by teenage males, who made up around 17%, compared to fewer than 9% of female adolescents. Meanwhile, males aged under 12 and over 30 together constituted roughly 10% of gamers, while females in these age categories represented only a small minority.
Turning to game genre preferences, role-playing games dominated, attracting nearly 50% of gamers. Action games were the second most popular at about 20%, while strategy games accounted for approximately 15%. By contrast, preferences for simulation and other types of games together made up less than 15% of the total.
