The two graphs give detailed information about the electronic gaming trends among South Koreans depending on age, gender, and preferences in 2006.
Overall, it is clear that the majority of gamers were male across all age groups. It is also worth mentioning that role-playing games were the most popular, while unspecified games were least favoured in South Korea.
Focusing on the gender differences, about 9% of boys aged under 12 played electronic games, followed closely by girls in the same age group at 5%. However, the figures showed an upward trend among teenagers aged 13-19, with boys accounting for roughly 19%, which was considerably higher than their female counterparts at 8%. The percentage of adult participants aged 20-29 made up the highest proportion, regardless of gender, with men at 34% and women at 10%. Finally, women aged 30 and over were less keen on playing games, whereas men stood at 11%.
In terms of types of games, role-playing games were the most preferred among participants at approximately 49%, which was the highest figure in the graph. The percentage of action and strategy games exhibited somewhat similar patterns, 20% and 18% respectively. Lastly, only about 1% of South Korean citizens tended to engage in other types of games.
