The bar chart provides a breakdown of the percentages of young Canadian boys and girls who participate in four different free-time activities: sports, computer games, music, and shopping.
Overall, it is clear that the proportion of boys was higher than that of girls in all activities, except for music, where participation was equal. Notably, shopping was especially common as a leisure activity among boys, who had significantly higher numbers.
Focusing on the most popular activities, shopping and sports topped the list. Around 35% of boys were keen on shopping, while just above 5% of girls chose it. Sports was the second most popular activity for boys at around 26%, which was more than double the percentage of girls.
The remaining hobbies—computer games and music—had lower participation rates compared to the others. Boys and girls had the same proportion of participation in music, each representing 20%. Moreover, girls spent slightly less time on computer games than boys, showing 16% and 18%, respectively.
