Band 8: The Given below shows the changes in the places where people used to surf the internet in the year 1998,2000,2002 and 2004. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The bar chart gives information about the percentage of people who accessed the Internet from different places in the UK between 1998 and 2004.

Overall, home was the most common place to use the Internet throughout the period, while libraries had the lowest percentage of users. Although Internet usage at work and college remained relatively stable, both saw a steady increase by the end of the period.

In 1998, around 55% of people accessed the Internet from home, making it the most popular location. However, this percentage dropped slightly in 2000, before increasing again to approximately 55% in 2004. As for work usage, despite a stable trend at around 28% in 1998 and 2000, it gradually declined to about 16% in 2004.

Turning to the percentage of people using the Internet at college, having picked at nearly 25% in 2002, the figure decreased steadily to just under 20%. Regarding library usage, in spite of an insignificant growth, remained the least popular option, rising from a bit over 10% in 1998 to 15% in 2004.
