The chart below shows a typical American household basic necessity needs such as food, clothes, books, smartphones and toiletries in both the years 2010&2014.

There’s a very noticeable increase of the amount that was spent in both years like for example food spending & smartphones in 2010 food costed 3,600$ but on the other side food costed around 4,400$ in 2014 that’s about 800$ we can clearly tell that food price increased and got 800$ more expensive than it was in 2010, same thing for smartphones there’s quite the increase between 2010 and 2014 families spent around 600$ more on smartphones than they did back in 2010.

We also can see how clotheing was the only item being equal in both years, the amount was spent is 2,500$ in both 2010&2014, similar case for toiletries there wasn’t a huge increase between the two years there was only a slight increase being around 100$. Books in 2014 Were 500$ less than 2010, the cause of that could be that in 2014 everything was more advanced than it was in 2010 so anyone could find the book of their need easily free online unlike in 2010 you could hardly find books online.

In conclusion the chart shows us how huge the difference between the cost of a basic necessity is in both 2010 & 2014,and how the technology advanced throughout the years making people not in need of buying things they used to spend a lot on.
