The diagram illustrates how sugar cane is converted into sugar through a series of stages.
Overall, the process consists of seven main stages, beginning with the harvesting of sugar cane and culminating in drying and culling of the final product. Along the way, the raw material undergoes a series of natural, mechanical and chemical transformations before being converted into sugar.
In the first stage, the crop worker harvests sugar cane on a large-scale farm. The fully grown canes are harvested by machines and manually process. After this, the raw materials are transported to the factory. In the factory, chemical processing begins. Initially, the harvested canes are crushed to separate the juice from the cane branch, collected and passed through a limestone filter.
The filtered juice is ready to be converted into syrup. The juice is heated by a machine called an evaporator to be converted into syrup. In the next stage, the sugar begins to take its proper shape, in the 6th step the sugar crystals separate from the syrup by a centrifuge machine.
