In 1913, there were 3024 deepmines in UK. The number then fall dramatically 86%, approximately 2607 miners. In 1943, number of miners halved to 1609. The number then halved again in 1963, still 943 miners.
Suprisingly, in 1983, the number of deepmines continued to decrease nearly 90%, approximately 170 deepmines. In our twenty first century, there was also a downtrend in the number of coal miners in UK, only 20 miners. In the last point of time in the table (2015), the number of deepmines follow by a consistent fall of 25%, approximately 5 miners left.
