The table illustrates the amount of mines from the year 1913 to 2015 producing coal in the United Kingdom.
Overall, the table clearly shows that during the year 1913, the number of coal mines were the highest in the country compared to the year 2015 with only 5 mines that produce coal.
Looking at the general trend of the table, the amount of coal mines portrays a downtrend, followed by a significant decrease after the 20th century. We can see that during the early 19th century, there were thousands of coal mines including the year 1913, 1923 and 1943.
If we compare the two outliers which is the year 1913 and 2015, we can see that a drastic change has happened over these 100 years or so. Following that, if we compare the year 1963 and 1983 which is only 20 years apart, almost 800 mines producing coal were gone in the latter year compared to the former year.
