Given are two figures comparing the expenses in 7 various items in years 1966 and 1996 by USA people. Overall, car expenses increased mostly and food expenses decreased sharply between two years however, other items had ups and downs too.
In 1966, American citizens, dedicated 44% of their expenses to food while, this number declined to 14% in 1996. Also, car expenses saw a significant climb from 23% to 45% in 1966 and 1996. It is obvious that, computer and furniture expenses changed slightly from 9% to 8% and from 10% to 8% respectively.
On the other hand, we can see restaurant expenses doubled in two years from 7% to 14%. Petrol expenses, although occupied a negligible 1% in the pie in 1966 but, had raised exponentially to 10% in 1996. It is also interesting to note that, book expenses had a marked drop from 6% to 1% in the following years.
