The line graph shows the number of people living in China distributed among different age groups between 1960 and 2050.
It is obvious that the proportion of the 15-64 age group had the highest changes during the period shown and reached a peak of 70% in 2020. However, over the last 30 years the figures had decreased and the number of people aged 15-64 years old living in China dropped to approximately 53%. In comparison with the 0-14 age group, we see a gradual decrease in the amount of people during the 90 years period. It is clear that the 65+ age group had the lowest figures during the period shown and hadn’t sharp changes. Though, the number of people aged 65+ reached a peak in 2050 and overtook the 0-14 age group in terms of number.
A more detailed look at the graph reveals that over the first five decades we see a slight fall in 0-14 and 65+ age groups, unlike to the 15-64 age group where we see a significant increase. As to the last 30 years, the figures for people living in China aged 15-64 or 0-14 saw a steep fall. In contrast to the 65+ age group where slight growth is observed.
