Malaysia rose steadily from 15% to 22% in 2019. Although it dipped slightly to 20% in 2021, Malaysia managed to peak at 25% in 2023, having the highest percentage among the four countries. Meanwhile, Vietnam is the highest climber from 5% in 2015 to 19% in 2023. Indonesia also had an overall rise from 8% in 2015 to 16% in 2023, despite having inconsistent growth shown by the decline in 2021. In contrast, Thailand had the most steady increase compared to Indonesia with each year having at least 1% growth, excluding 2019 to 2021. However, compared to the rest of the competitors, Thailand has the most modest and least growth, from 12% to 15% in 8 years, only a 3% increase in percentage.
In conclusion, all four countries showed growth in overseas postgraduate study over the years and Malaysia remained the dominant contributor among the four.
