Overall, the temperatures in the two cities experienced a similar trend, where they tended to dip from January to July and then quickly recovered in the last quarter of the year. The amount of rain in Brisbane was much higher than that of Canberra.
The average maximum temperatures in both cities started out at around 27 degrees in January, before reaching a peak of 30 degrees in Brisbane while remaining the same for Canberra. The temperatures then gradually fell and bottomed out at around 10 degrees for Brisbane and nearly freezing for Canberra in July. The last four months of the year saw a steady increase of the average maximum temperatures in both cities, reaching around 28 degrees at the end of the period.
Regarding rainfall, Brisbane experienced fluctuations around 13-14 days in the three spring months, from January to March, followed by a drop to 7 days from July to September and a recovery to 12 days in December. In contrast, the amount of rain in Canberra saw a more stable trend, starting at 7-8 days in spring, increasing to 10 days in the summer, and reaching 7 days in December.
