The graph depicts the global water use by sector in the 1900s. The water used for domestic use and industrial use seem to be almost equal to zero, whereas the usage of water for agricultural purpose is almost 500 km3. The water utilized for industrial and domestic purpose seems to be almost steady during 1920s to 1940s, with a slight increase in the 1950s and a gradual climb till the 2000s. The water usage for agricultural purpose is significantly higher than both industrial and domestic purposes, with the global usage going up to 3000 km3 in 2000.
The table shows the consumption of water in the year 2000 in the countries Brazil and Congo. The population of Brazil is 176 million with an irrigated land of 26,500 km2, depicting the water consumed per person as 359 m3. Meanwhile, the Democratic Republic of Congo had a population of 5.2 million, irrigated land of 100 km2, and the water consumed by each person as 8 m3.
Overall, both the global water usage for agricultural purpose as well as the water consumption per person in Brazil were the highest and plummeted in the year 2000.
