Overall, swimming, athletics and netball were more prevalent among girls than boys with netball female players accounted for 25%, while others were primarily popular with boys.
Swimming and netball played by girls comprehensively took up for approximately one-half of total female players. The participation rate of swimming was nearly 21% of girls and 12.5% of boys, while athletics-one of the unpopular sports with around 4% and 6% played by boys and girls respectively. About netball players, only had a little more than 25% of total participants with 25% played by girls and around 0.5% played by boys.
Others were mainly played by boys rather than girls. Tennis and basketball, martial arts and cricket had nearly 9% and 10% of male players respectively, while girls’ participant rate decreased gradually from 7.5% to around 0.5%. according to those four. Soccer and other group were greatly prevalent among boys with around 25% and 20%, while girls only accounted for one-fourth of male soccer players and half of other male players.
