The line chart provides information (data) about the demographic situation in New Zealand over the period of 200 years.
Overall, it can be seen from the graph that there are significant fluctuations for the birth rate and rapid growth for the death rate throughout the two centuries. By the end of the period the number of people who passed away will surpass the one related to newborn.
In 1901, the relative value of New Zelanders born was twice the number of those who died, at around 20,000. During the next 60 years, the rate of birth increased sharply and reached its peak of 65,000 in 1961. Since then, the figures fluctuated between 60,000 and 50,000 during the period of 50 years. From 2021, the number of births is predicted to continue falling steadily and reach 43,000 by 2101.
During the period of next 80 years, it is forecasted that the rate of death in New Zealand will continue its upward trend, and reached its peak at almost 60,000 people in 2051. The figures will oscillate from 55,000 to 60,000 and stand at 58,000 by the end of 2101. In comparison to the death rate, the number of births is predicted to decline gradually between approximately 53,000 to 42,000 people by the end of the period.
