The line graph illustrates international immigration, migration, and migration net over the 9-year period from 1999 to 2008.
As an overall trend, it can be clearly seen that the migration net in 2004 was by far the highest among all the years. In contrast, the amount of immigration and emigration increased steadily with mild fluctuations during the whole time.
In detail, the number of individuals who moved to another country in 1999 accounted for just over 450 000. After a significant growth, it reached a peak in 2006 which comprised 600 000. While the quantity of people who moved to the UK showed a rapid rise until it had a sharp dip in the year 2007. Consequently, at the end of the shown period it peaked at almost 400 000.
After going up enormously with slight oscillations the difference between immigration and emigration remained steady for 4 years between 1999 and 2003.
