The bar chart shows different bedtime routines for three age groups of American children. Overall, the majority of children of all ages are in favour of reading books before going to bed, while the least favourable activity is eating in all age categories with the exception of children aged 1-3. This is followed by those who are 1-3 years and 6-8 years old, engaging in this activity at about 65% and 60% respectively. Brushing teeth is the second most-favoured activity in all age categories with the oldest and the youngest age groups having the highest and the lowest proportions with respective figures 50% and 30%. In contrast, taking a shower is more common among toddlers than children aged 6-8 and 4-5 with 40%.

In addition, 20% of toddlers make eating a habit prior to going to bed, which was the same as that of children aged 4-5 years.
