Overall, it is clear that there was a variation in the number of catholics residing in countries including China, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Korea and Japan. The highest proportion of catholics was noted in Philippines, while the lowest amount was seen in Japan.
It is evident that approximately 80 million catholics reside in Philippines during 2010; however, it was reduced to 72 million catholics in 2013. China and India had a significant rise in the number of catholics in 2013, at about 15 million and 19 million, respectively. There was an equal proportion of catholics in Vietnam, at about 5.5 million. The data shows that the number of catholics in Korea declined to 1.3 million from roughly 5 million. Despite having the least number of catholics residing in Japan, this increased to around 5 million in 2013.
