The presented line graph provides information about the proportion of the citizens dwelling in urban areas during given periods in four countries of Asia, namely Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. From the graph, it is obvious to see that the rate of the population in cities has an upward trend.
The vertical line shows the percentage of citizens who live in cities, the horizontal line indicates the years from 1970 to 2040. The information for 2030 and 2040 is prediction.
It can be seen that Philippines and Malaysia had almost equal percentage which was almost 30% in 1970, however the numbers changed significantly for the last years, which became 70% in Philippines and nearly 40% in Malaysia in 2010.
We can observe from the diagram that 15% of the population lived in cities in Indonesia at the beginning of the given period and 18% in Thailand, however, the amount of humans who live in cities progressively went up in both states. In 2000 years, each country shows the number 30, and the trend goes up noticeably in Indonesia to 50% in 2020, whereas Thailand stayed almost unchanged.
As can be seen, predictions show that the percentage of the population who live in cities will continue upward trend for the 2030 and 2040 years.
