The line graph illustrates a comparative chart of the ratio of people living in the urban area of Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia from the year 1970 to 2020, with an assumption for the years 2030 and 2040.
Overall, Malaysia had the highest proportional of urban residents whilst the smallest ratio was seen in Thailand over the study period. Despite the continuous growth seen in all countries, two faced fluctuation in the middle and then again took the increasing trend and went up-to-predicted times; however, the remaining two exhibited only a gradual inclination of population in the whole study.
In 1970, Philippines had the highest urban residents accounting just above 30% and just below it, with 30% Malaysia was at the second spot. Then Thailand came with around 18% and the least was Indonesia, have around 15%, population living in the urban area. Just a decade later, Malaysia overtook Philippines as the highest number of population living in cities.
Between the years 1970 to 2040, people of Malaysia and Indonesia exhibited significant migration, making 80% and 60% of people in the cities. In contrast, after the year 1990, cities population of Philippines dropped to level low of just above 40% and this pattern was resemble with Thailand as the population declined minimum to around 38% in 2000. After these minimums, growth of the population of both continued for the remaining periods.
