In 1970, Philippines and Malaysia had similar propotion urban population at around 30%. Thailand and Indonesia were lower at approximately 20% and 15%. By 1990, all urbanisation growth in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia expect Philippines was stagnate by 30%.
However after 1990, Malaysia was rose sharply reaching about 70% in 2010, and is projected exceed 80% by 2040, becoming the highest among four country. In contrast Philippines experienced was flactuate, dropping slightly before rising to around 60% in 2040. Indonesia showed stedy increased throughout over the period, climbing from about 15% by 1970 to around 55% by 2040. Meanwhile, Thailand has the slowest growth, gradually increased from about 25% by 1970 to just under 50% by 2040 at the end of the period.
