The graph illustrates the data about the number of occupations in the US dividing into four sections of the economy from 1960 to 2020. Overall, it can be clearly seen that there were remarkable changes in all sectors, while the healthcare with lowest numbers reached the peak level in the last year.
In 1960, in healthcare there was the lowest amount of work, approximately 2.5 million. However, it significantly grew during the period and reached the highest level in 2020. Similarly, employment in retail sector rose gradually over the years from 6 million to just above 15 million, which is the same with healthcare’s.
Looking at the manufacturing, it had the highest point at the beginning. In the next two decades it increased to 20 million, the peak of the period, before falling dramatically to nearly 13 million. Although agriculture had over than 6 million jobs in 1960, it showed a considerable drop throughout the period, decreasing to almost 3 million in 2020.
