Overall, Russia was dominate in timber manufacturing, while South America was biggest on forest production, nevertheless, other regions accounted for smaller shares of production in forest than in timber.
In terms of forest area, South America showed the largest proportion at 26,5%, followed by Russia with 24,2%, and North America with 21,9%. South Africa represented 13,2% of the world’s forests, while Asia and Oceania had 9,2%. Europe had the smallest share, only at 5%.
However, the pattern of timber production was different. Russia was dominate of global timber production with 37,5%, which was the higher than other regions. South America produced 15%, while Asia and Oceania accounted for 14,3%. North America represented 12,8%, followed by South America with 11,2%. Europe had the lowest proportion in timber production with 9,2%.
