The two pie charts illustrate the proportion of world’s forests and timber production in different regions of the world. Figures are given in percentages.
Overall, Russia and South America accounted for the largest shares of global forest area, while Russia dominated timber production. Europe had the smallest proportion of forests, whereas its share of timber production was comparatively higher. Remaining regions made up relatively similar figures.
In terms of forest distribution, South America and Russia possessed the highest proportions 26.5% and 24.2% respectively, whereas in timber production, Russia was dominated with 37.50%, as for South America, its proportion was relatively smaller 15%. Following this, North America was also the leading country in terms of forest distribution (21.9%), in timber output, North America accounted for 12.8%.
Turning to South Africa, it made up relatively similar figures, 13.2 % in forest area, and 11.2 % in wood production. When it comes to Asia and Europe, their forest area stood at 9.2% and 5%, in contrast in wood output accounted for comparatively higher 14.3% and 9.2 % respectively.
