The pie chart demonstrates the origin of oil for the US in 2012, while the column graph illustrates the changing amount of oil imported to the US from 2005 to 2012. Looking at an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the US accounted for the largest continent in 2012, whereas the barrels of the US imported per day showed an overall downward trend.
As can be seen in the first graph, in 2012, the US occupied 36% of the crude oil, followed by Canada ranked second at 25%. Moreover, 18% of oil came from the Middle East, with Latin America accounting for 10%, and Africa and others consisting of below 10%.
Turning to the bar chart, the US imported 14 million barrels in 2005 per day, followed by the number slightly decreased to approximately 11 million in 2008 before rising again to roughly 12 million a day in 2009. After 2009, the import amount gradually diminished to over 8 million barrels per day at the end of the given period.
