The line graph illustrates information about how elderly individuals spend their leisure time in the United States from 1980 to 2010.
Overal, it is clear that the most common activity was watching TV and at the end of the period was hiking. The proportion of the theatre and reading fluctuated over the period, while the proportion of hiking significantly rose comparing with others.
The period for 1980 and 2000, surfing the internet made up lowest proportion, however in the last decade figure dramatically rose to 50%. In comparison, reading was a sharp rise to 40%, which preceded a gradual decline to 20%, then significantly climbed to 60%. It can be clearly seen, theatre in the beginning stood at 50% then, decreased to 30% followed by steadily rose to approximately 45%.
Another important trend in the data is hiking which started at 20%, and over the period gradually climbed then, reached a peak at 80% in 2010. Whereas, activity watching TV a steady incrase to 70% followed by a steady decrease to around 65%.
