The bar chart illustrates the different kinds of activities, which were preferred by New Zealand boys and girls aged 5-9 in 2007.
Overall, it can be seen from the graph that boys enjoyed outdoor activities, such as sports and going to the Park, while girls were interested in indoor amusements like Arts and Craft, Books, DVDs and computer games.
As regards boys, the most favorite activity was Sports, in which around 28% of boys were involved. In the meantime, the runner up to Sports was reported to be Going to the park, with 25% of the participants. The computer games and DVDs attracted 15% of boys each.
The least popular activities for boys were reading books, and art and craft, which accounted for about 10% and 7 %, respectively.
Turning to the girls, the most of them were interested in Arts and Craft, with their percentages constituting 25%. Besides, the number of girls reading books made up 18%, which was higher than boys almost twice. In terms of DVDs, girls watching them constituted approximately 17% while the proportion who played computer games was only 15%. Finally, the smallest share of girls enjoyed walking in the pak and playing sports, comprising a mere 10%.
