Compared to 2000 and 2005, in 2000, all four types of waste hit the highest percentage, plastic at 25%, cans at 35%, paper at around 30%, and metal at 40%. Apart from cans with a slight drop from 2000 to 2005, the proportion of other three type of waste recycled increased during 2000 and 2010.
In 2000, the percentages of all given kinds of waste showed little difference, all at around 10%. In 2010, metal held the largest proportion of recycling, at 40%, followed by cans at 35%, paper at about 30%, and plastic at 25%. In 2005, while only 12% of plastic and cans were recycled, the proportion of recycled metal was about 30%, nearly half higher than that of paper at 18%.
Overall, in 2010, the highest percentage was exhibited in all four types of waste. Plastic presented the lowest proportion of recycling during the given period among four types of waste.
