The diagram illustrates the amount of energy produced by wind between 1980-2000 across four countries.
Overall, energy generated in all countries increased steadily throughout the period, with the exception of the US, which experienced a slight decrease in the final periods. However, the US held the largest figures for much of the period. Denmark surpassed both Germany and the US by the end of the period.
In 1985, India generated the lowest amount of wind energy, at exactly 200 megawatts. However, in the next years, India revealed a significant increase by roughly 600 megawatt units by 1995, equalizing the energy scales with Germany. By 2000, India rose to 1200 megawatts, surpassing Germany, being the third largest wind energy generation country. Similarly, Denmark recorded the same trajectory with India. Energy production in Denmark, were just over 200 megawatts, in 1985. In the next decade, it became the second largest energy producer country with exactly 1200 megawatts, surpassing both India and Germany. By 2000, it became the leading energy producer, at well over 1600.
In 1985, the figure for Germany was exactly 400. By 1995, this figure then doubled before reaching about 900 by 2000. The US, generated exactly 1200 megawatts in 1985. This figure increased by more than 200 units. Unlike other countries, the US experienced a decline between 1995 and 2000 holding the second position, in energy production, with approximately 1500 megawatts.
