The line graph gives data on how much cheese one person ate in 4 different countries from 1980 to 2020, over four decades.
Overall, the rate of cheese consumption in England and Scotland witnessed a downward trend over the whole period, while the opposite could be observed in the case of Wales and Northern Ireland, growing between 1980 and 2020.
Turning to the details, we can see negative tendencies in the figure for cheese eating in England and Scotland. The rate of English people who consumed cheese were just above 100 kilograms per person in 1980, which was the most significant number this year. This figure, however, witnessed a slight decline to around 80 kilograms over four decades. Regarding Scotland, starting off at nearly 80 kilograms, the consumption of cheese in this nation experienced a rapid rise to around 100 kilograms in first decade, before seeing a rapid decrease to just above 50 kilograms till the final year.
If we look at Wales and Northern Ireland, the reversing dynamic can be seen. In the beginning, just below 50 kilograms cheese was consumed by the Welsh, a figure gradually grew to around 75 kilograms over forty years. Finally, regarding Northern Ireland, its figure doubled from approximately 15 kilograms to around 55 kilograms between 1980 and 2020, seeing a slow rise in the first half decade and witnessing a significant increase, before reaching its peak.
