However, the figure recovered, reached just above 8 million in 2025 and is projected to exceed 9 million by 2040. Similarly, trains showed a similar trend. It began with 5 million users in 1980, with minor fluctuations in between 1990 to 2010, rose to 6 million in 2025 and is estimated to reach 7 million by 2040.
In contrast, bus usage shows a declining trend. In 1980, 4 million people used bus transportation. Over the period, there was notable decrease, reaching approximately 2.5 million in 2025 and it is expected to reach 2 million by 2040.
