The column chart illustrates the comparison between the percentage of people in four different places where they mostly accessed the Internet in 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004.
In 1998, around 55% of people utilized the Internet from their homes which was nearly double the user amount in workplace. However, its number went down to below half of the population in 2000, meanwhile, those in work and college remained the same as in 1998, which were around 27% and 20%, respectively. Surprisingly, only the population in library showed the upward trend in 2000, over 5% more than its amount in 1998, but it was still the least popular place among others at that time.
The Internet user population slightly increased in 2002, up to double of total population, and rose up more than 5% in 2004. On the other hand, the user amount in work and library has decreased since 2000, both reaching nearly 15% by 2004. The remaining place, college, maintained increased users which was quarter of total amount in 2002, but declined significantly to below 20% in 2004.
Overall, home is the most chosen place to surf the Internet over the remaining places throughout the years. In contrast, the library is the least preferred choice of all, in which the number of users went downward after 2000.
