The line graph compares the figures for the monthly commuters of four different vehicles (subway, tram, bus, and bike share) in an unspecified European metropolitan area from 1980 to 2030.
Overall, it is clear that all the figures increased with the exception of commuting by bus. Also, the figure for using subway was the leader during the period, whereas the reverse was true for using bike share.
Turning to the details, the number of commuters who used subway was 2.5 million at the beginning of the period. Although this rate moderately ascended to 3.5 million in 2010, this figure remained unchanged until 2020. By contrast, the quantity of people who used this vehicle is predicted to reach approximately 4.5 million in 2030. As for commuting by tram, in 1980, its rate was almost 0.5 million. Notably, this number markedly grew to nearly 1.5 million in 2010, although this figure is expected to reach 2 million in 2030.
Regarding the use of bus and bike share, the former’s number was about 1.5 million in 1980. However, this rate slightly decreased to approximately 1 million in 2020. In contrast, this number is predicted to decline to about 0.8 million in 2030. Interestingly, the use of bike share was started in 2000, with nearly 0.3 million. The quantity of commuters who used bike share is expected to slightly increase to approximately 0.6 million in 2030.
