The line graph provided illustrates present energy consumption of 6 different fuels by residents of the USA since 1980 and the predictions of consumption till 2030.
Overall, fossil fuels are the major source of energy, in past, present and the future as well showing major increasing in their consumption with petrol and oil being the primary fuel. Renewable sources are not being widely used at any point of time and it’s predicted to stay the same way.
As per the graph, in 1980, petrol and oil had the highest consumption, increasing from 35 quadrillion units to around 40 quadrillion units at present. It is predicted to still be the primary source of fuel in 2030, the usage being at more than 45 quadrillion units. Coal and natural gas are the other options in terms of fossil fuel whose consumption has been increasing since 1980 and predicted to rise until 2030. The units for the former being at approximately 30 quadrillion and latter at nearly 20 quadrillion.
Further, the remaining three sources came into use after 1985. All of these fuels showed very little rise in which is predicted to never increase 10 quadrillion units. Nuclear power being used the most during the whole period at peak consumption of nearly 8 quadrillion units. For the renewables, the number stayed below 5 quadrillion units for the entire time.
